C.K. Akonnor Appointed as Black Stars Coach

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appoint former Hearts and Kotoko coach, Charles Kwablan Akonnor as the new manager for the senior national team, the Black Stars after the departure of coach kwesi Appiah.

The football association announce the news to the public on 14th January when Ghanaians started to mount pressure on them for the announcement of the new head coach. The Ghana Football Association led by President Kurt E.S. Okraku, decided to dissolve the various technical teams of the country’s national side.

The new administration sack all the national team coaches as a way of ensuring good performance in all the various national teams. This led to the lost of job by coach kwesi Appiah when his contract ended in December, 2019. C.K. Akonnor has sign a two years contract with GFA and they expecting him to take the team to the promise land.

The 45 year- old was appointed by this same administration as a substantive coach to Kwesi Appiah, he help the team in their two victories in the 2021 Cup of Nation qualification matches against South Africa and Soa Tome and Principle last year. He again won the NC Special competition with Kotoko and also qualify them to the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup last year. He will work with coach David Duncan as his assistant for the next two years as a Black Stars coach.
