Reasons for Moving Arsenal’s Europa Game to Wednesday

Unai Emery’s men are back in action this week with the Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes as they continue their Europa League campaign at Portugal.

The Europa League games are normally played on Thursdays but, UEFA has change day for the return and encounter between the two side to Wednesday.

The motive behind the decision is to relieve the work overload on the local authorities because, Guimaraes Primeira Liga rivals Braga will host Beskitas in the same competition on Thursday. Another reason is to avoid traffic on both teams because Braga is just 24hours minutes drive from Guimarases.

As result of that, the match has been moved to 3:50pm at Estadio D. Afanso Henriques in Guimarases. The Portuguese side took the lead in the first leg but, Pepe’s brace gave the Gunners win at Emirate. The Gunners are looking forward for a win, so that, their qualification from the group stage can be secured.
